We're almost 50 miles into Virginia and so far it's been beautiful.
It's been a 50/50 mix of forests and pasture. At the Mt Rogers/Grayson
Highlands area we encountered around 30 wild ponies. They walked right
up to us and one started licking my hiking pole handles to taste the
salt. Today we go into Sugar Grove to pick up Kevins resupply package
and get lunch. Hope all is well back home.

Hey Chad,
It's interesting that there are wild ponies near Mount Rodgers. A few of the girls on your blog mentioned the wild ponies in the book, Misty of Chincoteague. Those ponies live out on Assateague Island (between the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay). There is a national seashore there and some great camping and crabbing (although many mosquitoes). You'll have to check it out...but on a different trip! :) Can't wait to see you guys in June!
Kat
